Waste electrical and electronic equipment cannot be thrown into mixed municipal waste!

Electrical and electronic equipment and their components contain substances, which are hazardous for people and the environment, for example lead, mercury, cadmium and chrome. If the WEEE is not disposed of properly the hazardous substances can uncontrollably leak into the groundwater and gather in organisms. Their decomposition period last many decades and some of them are especially dangerous if exposed to fire.

With the appropriately disposed WEEE we reduce the possible adverse effects on the health and environment and enable their processing and recycling. The main components we gain by recycling are metals, plastic and glass, which can be reused for the production of new products.

That is why we need to collect and dispose the domestic and work related WEEE separate from other waste products (or waste).

Where can we dispose the WEEE?

Everyone user is one way or another responsible for the responsible handling of WEEE. All the WEEE has to be collected and disposed separately – regardless if it is domestic (households) or work related (in factories).

The end user relinquishes the household WEEE to:

  • the public service provider in:

the collection centre,
the mobile collection site of hazardous parts, if the domestic WEEE in question is very small.

  • the collector at a collection site,
  • the distributer.

Check if there is a collection centre or collection site near your location where you can dispose your WEEE free of charge.
